Description

The Coach House, South Lodge Garden House and Stable House is a stable block and coach house built in 1898 by George and Yeates, originally serving Shockerwick House and now converted into four residences. The building is constructed of coursed, squared rubble with a slate roof and ashlar stacks, some of which are diagonal. It is arranged as a quadrangle and is largely single-storied, with attics housed in two large, coped stone gables positioned on either side of a large central arched opening. Windows are generally 2- and 4-light casements with moulded stone mullions, while the gables contain 6-light casements with king mullions. A central timber and lead lantern sits atop the roof, featuring a clock and weather vane.
