Description

Rockhill House is a detached house situated within its own grounds, dating from the mid-18th century with alterations made in the late 19th century. The exterior is of colourwashed render with ashlar copings, a mansard pantile roof, and rendered gable end stacks.

The house follows a double-depth plan with a central staircase and two reception rooms on either side. The west front is symmetrical, featuring a three-window arrangement. A central doorway is flanked by late 19th-century three-light canted bays, which have imposts, foliated capitals, incised segmental heads, and plate-glass sashes. The first floor has plate-glass sashes in plain reveals with sills. Steps lead up to a central late 19th-century porch, characterised by columns, richly carved capitals, and a flat hood, containing a panelled door with two pointed-arched lights. The interior was not inspected.
