Description
The temple in the grounds of Batheaston Villa, located approximately 100 meters west of the villa, is a garden temple dating from the mid-18th century. It is constructed from limestone ashlar and features a domed lead roof. The temple has a circular plan with a base that measures about 8 meters in diameter. There are steps with moulded risers, four on the west side and three on the east side. The structure is supported by eight Roman Doric columns that hold up a flat entablature. Inside, beneath the dome, there is a moulded plinth that has fixings for a former statue.
