Description

Four terrace houses, built around 1820 and altered in the 20th century. They are constructed of painted limestone ashlar with roof and chimney details not visible. Each house has a double-depth layout. The houses present a two-storey facade with a single window range to each. Nos. 1-3 form a continuous block with a coped parapet and a corniced detail that steps forward over four wide, plain pilasters. These pilasters have raised bands near the top and rest on a ground floor string course. Modern doors with overlights are situated to the left of each house, accompanied by six-over-six pane sash windows. The ground floor windows of Nos. 1 and 3 retain margin panes. No. 4, to the left, is set on a slope and features a pilaster to the left quoin and six-over-six pane sash windows, some of which suggest they originally had margin panes. A modern door and overlight are located to the right. Interior details are largely uninspected, with the exception of No. 3, which was inspected by Bath Council in 1986. A ground floor room in No. 3 has vertical, beaded boarded wainscoting, two pairs of cupboards to the rear, and an original hob grate is present in a front bedroom.
