Description
Holly Farmhouse is a house with a mid-18th century core that was remodelled and extended around 1800. The walls are of rubble, except for the garden front, which is ashlar, with stone dressings and slate roofs. An 18th century former dairy is set at right angles to the road and was originally an extension of an earlier farmhouse, which was incorporated into the larger house created around 1800. The garden front is two storeys high with three windows. All windows are eight-pane sashes, which were due to be replaced at the time of resurvey in June 1985. There is a central, ground floor, blind round-headed niche and a blind window above. A first-floor string course runs along the garden front. The east front has a round-headed doorway with a fanlight and scattered, single-light, round-headed windows with Y tracery. The roof is double span, with end ashlar stacks. An 18th century wing features two-light windows with edge-moulded mullions and small leaded pane casements. Inside, a newel staircase with oak treads is located in the southwest corner of the main house, and there are some chamfered beams.
