Description

A pair of houses dating from the mid-19th century, with 20th-century additions. They are constructed of limestone ashlar, with the ground floor painted, and have concrete tile roofing on number 41 and double Roman tile on number 43. The houses are semi-detached and are located at the bottom of a long row on the east side of Lyncombe Hill, situated on a steep slope, which gives the rear elevation an additional storey.

The facades are two storeys, with an attic and a lower ground floor, featuring three windows on one house and two on the other. They have plain sash windows set in splayed reveals, with a blind light on the ground floor, left, of number 41. Each house has a basement window, and a central six-panel door with a painted transom light, set within a segmental head with a keystone and a shallow double recess. A mid-level platband, deep cornice, blocking course, and parapet are present. The roof is hipped to the left, with coped gables in the centre and right, with a large square ashlar stack in the centre. The right return has a 20th-century attic sash window, and the left return has two windows over one arched light.

The rear elevation, also in ashlar, incorporates a deep lower ground floor, and number 41 includes a canted plain sash bay window. Various other sash windows are present, some with flower guards, along with a 20th-century French door. There are two platbands, a cornice, a blocking course, and a parapet on the rear elevation. The interiors have not been inspected.
