Description
Humphrys Almshouses are a pair of detached buildings located on the corner of Humphrys Road and Portland Road. They date from the mid-19th century and are the only remaining part of the original almshouses. The buildings are two storeys high, constructed from knapped flint with stone dressings, and feature two string courses between the storeys. The steep tiled roof has cresting and gable chimneys. There are three windows on the front; the upper side windows are three-light with mullions, while the upper centre window is a single-light. The lower windows are also three-light with mullions and have ousped heads above the tops of the lights. A large gabled porch made of open timberwork sits above the flint walls, and there is a lean-to extension at the rear. A low flint boundary wall surrounds the property.
