Description

This is a chest tomb located approximately 5 metres south of the south porch of the church in Cuckfield. It dates from the early 19th century, although the inscription was illegible at the time of the survey. The tomb features a high brick and stone plinth, which originally had railings that are now missing. The stone chest is rectangular and has distinctive end pilasters with nine sharp pointed mouldings. It also has a moulded top that supports a flat slab with an incised inscription.
