Description

Barton St Mary is a large, rambling house designed by Edwin Lutyens in 1906, built in the Tudor style. It has two storeys and features pebble-dashed walls with red brick dressings. The roof is hipped and tiled. The central part of the house is recessed and is flanked by two projecting hipped gables, which are further flanked by larger projecting gables. The gables are either mullioned or have both mullions and transoms. There is an off-centre round-headed doorcase surrounded by a brick surround. The garden includes a massive central clustered chimney stack and two elongated dormers.
