Description
This is an 18th-century timber-framed barn located in the grounds of Great Walstead School, to the north of Walstead House. The barn is covered in tarred weather-boarding and sits on a rendered plinth. The original pitched tiled roof has been modified, now featuring a gablet at the southern end where a one-bay extension with a hipped roof has been added. There is also a single-storey lean-to extension at the south end, which connects to Tythe Cottage, and to the north, the barn adjoins The Coach House. The eastern elevation includes a central single doorway and shows evidence of several blocked window openings along its length. The interior was not inspected. The barn is recognized for its architectural interest as a good example of an 18th-century structure.
