Description
The Former Sergison Arms Public House is a late 16th century, three-bay timber-framed building that was refronted in the 19th century. It features an additional 19th-century bay to the northeast. The original section has a ground floor made of red brick and a first floor that is tile hung, with a modillion band separating the two levels. The roof is tiled and half-hipped to the southwest, with external stacks on the southwest side and an off-central stack at the ridge. The building has two storeys and four windows, which are early 20th-century casements. Above the third window from the left, there is a hipped gable with a carved bargeboard. The early 20th-century doorcase has square wooden piers, a carved bargeboard, and a tiled gable, with a simpler door that has a pediment on brackets to the left. There is a two-storey Victorian extension of one bay to the northeast, which features a gable and similar windows. The rear elevation has two tiled gables.
Inside, the pub contains chamfered ceiling beams with lambs tongue stops in the bar area, an 18th-century open fireplace in the southwest corner, and a roof constructed with collar and butt purlins.
