Description

19 and 20 The Causeway is a 16th century timber-framed house that has been divided into two separate homes. The ground floor is fronted with painted brick, while the upper floor features weather-boarding. The building stands two storeys high and has three windows. Originally, the first floor jutted out, but it has since been under-built. The front has a central gable with moulded bargeboards and a pendant. There are some casement windows, including one original, as well as sash windows with intact glazing bars. The timber framing is visible on the side walls, which both have gables; the northern gable has scalloped bargeboards. This building is part of a significant group of listed buildings in The Causeway, which also includes those in Market Square and South Street.
