Crown Post Barn To East Of Rowley Farm House

The Crown Post Barn, located to the east of Rowley Farm House, is a Grade II listed barn dating from the late medieval period. It features a timber frame with weatherboard cladding and a plain tile roof that has a hip on the west side. The barn consists of five bays and has central entries, with a later window added above the doorway on the long yard elevation. There is an outshut to the west of the entry and a later lean-to to the east. The east gable includes two windows, while the rear elevation has two late 19th century or early 20th century windows in the second bay from the west, and one window each in the third, fourth, and fifth bays from the west.

Inside, the barn retains jowl posts, tie beam braces, and a crown-post roof supported by square section posts with upward braces of rectangular section. The roof also includes side purlins, which may have been added when the tile roof replaced the original thatch. Some of the wall framing and studding is partly covered by modern boarding, and the western-most bay has been floored over.
