Description
Oldlands Farmhouse is an early 17th century timber-framed house with a central chimney, standing two storeys high. The rear of the building shows some close-studding and plaster infilling, but it is mainly covered in tile hanging. It has a slate roof with an original outshut at the north end of the east front. The house features five casement windows and a two-storey gabled porch at the centre of the west front. This porch combines an entrance and a newel stair, with a powder closet located on the first floor. The stair turret in the roof includes pegs for hand holds. Inside, there is a panelled parlour, and the doors have chamfers and stops. The upper floor was originally used for farm storage and includes a loft door leading to the farmyard. The house was built by William Bowyer, who owned the nearby Tinsley Forge.
