Description
Southdown, located at No. 10 on St John's Street, is an early to mid-19th century building consisting of two sections. The eastern part features a higher frontage with two storeys and an attic, while the western part is wider but only has two storeys. Both sections have hipped slate roofs and are finished in stucco.
The eastern section has two sash windows in reveals with segmental arches on the first floor, and all glazing bars are intact. Below, there are three modern two-light casement windows with glazing bars. The western section contains two sash windows on the first floor, one of which has side lights, and two sash windows on the ground floor. All windows are set in reveals with flat arches, and their stuccoed surrounds also have intact glazing bars.
The western part features a doorway with a door that has two long narrow panels and a rectangular fanlight with tracery above, framed with a moulded surround.
