Description

This is a long range of early 19th century houses, presented with a distinctive double curve. The houses are of two storeys and originally contained one window each, except for numbers 1 and 1A, which have three windows, and numbers 2 and 3, which have two windows each. The facades are stuccoed and feature an eaves cornice, with slate roofs. The windows are sash windows, set within flat arches, with intact glazing bars, except for some replacements. Numbers 1 and 1A have sash windows with flush boxes. Most of the doorways have a round-headed form with semi-circular fanlights, but number 1 has a doorway with pilasters and a pediment. Numbers 4 and 5, 6 and 7 (grouped in pairs), have flat-arched doorways with doors and semi-circular fanlights in reveals. Numbers 35 to 38 have doorways with fluted frames, topped with flat hoods. Numbers 39 and 40 have segmental and flat arched doorways, respectively. Several properties retain their original panelled doors, including numbers 2, 3, 13, 14, 16, 17, 21, 22, 23, 24, 25, 27, 31, and 32, which have two, four, five or six panels.
