Description
56 Orchard Street is an 18th-century building that stands two storeys high with a hipped tiled roof. Originally, it featured grey headers with red brick dressings, and on the west side, knapped flints with three red brick stringcourses. Currently, both sides are rendered. Each side has one window bay, with sash windows that have flush boxes and flat arches; however, the glazing bars are missing on the south-west side. The entrance to the house is located in a small one-storey lean-to annexe that extends from No 58. There are also additions on the north-east side of No 56, made of flint with red brick quoins and dressings. In the 18th-century section of the building, there is a small cornice with modillions below the eaves.
