Description
No 4 East Pallant is an early 18th-century building that stands two storeys high with an attic. It projects slightly northwards from No 3 and has a lower frontage and roofline. The steeply pitched tiled gabled roof features a stack positioned between Nos 3 and 4, as well as another stack to the west of centre. There are two dormers, one at each end of the roof, both with tiled hipped roofs. The building is finished in stucco and has a coved cornice.
It consists of five window bays, all fitted with sash windows that have flush boxes and intact glazing bars, with thicker glazing bars on the ground floor windows. The ground floor features a projecting plinth or sill. Access is provided by a doorway that is reached by three steps, which contains a six-panelled door with the top two panels cut away and glazed. The door is set in reveals and is framed by a stepped shouldered architrave with beading down the sides. The frieze above is decorated with paterae and garlands, topped with a rectangular pediment.
Nos 2 to 7 East Pallant form a group with this building.
