Description
Nos 13 and 15 Southgate are a range of houses dating from the 18th to early 19th century. The building features five window bays, with No 13 having three window bays. It has a tiled roof that is hipped at both the southern and northern ends, with tiled ridges. The structure consists of two parallel ranges and is two storeys high, with a stuccoed exterior.
Nos 14, 15, and the northernmost part of No 13 each have one window above and below, with doorways located to the north of these windows. The sash windows have square heads set in reveals, with stuccoed semi-shouldered architraves, although the glazing bars are missing. The doorways are adorned with pilasters and flat hoods, and the doors are set back in reveals. The panelled doors have the top two panels (or the top four panels in the case of No 15) cut away and glazed.
The southern part of No 13, which makes up approximately two-thirds of the building, features a modern plate-glass shop front on the ground floor beneath the middle window, along with a carriageway beneath the southernmost window. This shop front is flanked by pilasters and has a dentilled moulded wooden cornice above it.
Nos 13 to 18 Southgate form a cohesive group.
