Description
No. 48 West Street is a 18th-century building, formerly known as South Lawn. It features an old tiled roof that is steeply pitched with gabled ends and two dormers that have hipped tiled roofs. The dormer windows include glazing bars. The building has red brick walls, which have been painted over, and it stands two storeys tall. There are sash windows with flush boxes and segmental headings, accented by rubbed brick voussoirs. The upper floor has four windows, while the lower floor has two wider windows, although the glazing bars are missing from these lower windows. The entrance features a panelled door set in reveals, with a doorway that has a stepped architrave, a frieze, and a rectangular pediment above. Stacks are located at the rear of the building.
