Description
Nos 84 to 86 on East Street are 18th-century buildings with three storeys and an attic. No 84 has been refaced but retains an older core up to the roof level. The steeply pitched tiled gabled roof features a dormer window for No 85. Each building has two windows. No 85 is stuccoed, while No 86 is painted brick, previously red brick. They have separate eaves cornices with modillions, and No 86 has dentils. There are bands above the first floor, and sash windows with flat arches, although the glazing bars are missing from the first-floor windows. The windows in No 85 are in moulded frames with keystones above, while the second-floor windows in No 86 have flat shouldered frames, and the lower windows have moulded shouldered frames with pediments above. The ground floor features 20th-century plate glass shop fronts and fascia. No 84 has a red brick front below a coved cornice that is recessed behind the frontages of Nos 85 and 86.
