Description
Nos 51 and 52 on Tower Street are a pair of 18th-century houses, each three storeys high with two window bays. Both houses feature hipped roofs; No 52 has a hipped slate roof with a higher roof-line and a taller frontage compared to No 51, which has a tiled roof. They are constructed of red brick and have a small dentilled cornice below the eaves. The windows on the first floor and the ground floor are aligned in both houses, while No 51 has shorter windows on the second floor. The sash windows are set in flat arches with rubbed brick voussoirs, and the glazing bars remain intact except for the ground floor windows of No 51. No 52 has a six-panelled door with the top two panels cut away and glazed, along with a blocked semi-circular fanlight adorned with a wheat-ear garland above. The door is set in reveals and features a doorcase with Doric pilasters and a pediment above. No 51 also has a six-panelled door with the top two panels cut away and glazed, located behind a doorway with a flat-arched stepped architrave and a rectangular pediment above.
