Description

Baffins Hall, now auction rooms, was originally a Presbyterian Church built in 1721. It is constructed of red brick with grey brick headers laid alternately. The building features a truncated gable end and two round-headed windows, with a blocked arch between them. The windows have brick keystones. Attached to the north and south ends are single-story projecting wings with tiled roofs and gable ends facing the street. These wings are connected by a curtain wall and a flat roof to form a porch. Panelled entrance doors are set within reveals, and the doorway is framed by Doric pilasters and a curved pediment. Internally, the building retains its three galleries and panelling beneath them. The segmental ceiling is divided into four bays and features moulded beams supported on brackets.
