Description

The buildings at 2 to 24 Bond Street form a terrace of estate cottages dating to 1868. Constructed of red brick with grey brick headers, they feature dressings of Pulborough stone and a pitched slate roof with grey tile details and projecting wooden eaves. Elaborate bargeboards with drop tracery and decorative finials adorn each gable, with the end gables being particularly ornate. Iron drainpipes and rainwater heads are present, along with red brick chimneys featuring Pulborough stone quoins.

The cottages are arranged over two storeys and attics, with a single window range per building, and have projecting porches. The porches have single-light casement windows on their south-facing sides and entrances on their side elevations; all have pitched roofs with projecting eaves. Most windows are casements with glazing bars, while the attic dormers are gabled, with slate-hung sides and weatherboarded south elevations. The dormers have casement windows, with exceptions at Nos 8 (no glazing bars) and 16 (plate glass). Continuous Pulborough stone sill courses run along both floors. A single-storey extension constructed of Beach flint with red brick dressings and a pitched slate roof projects from the north side of No. 24 towards Mount Pleasant. This extension contains a single door and a modern casement window.

A brick retaining wall runs along the south side of the terrace, punctuated by brick steps leading up to each cottage and surmounted by a brick terrace. Nos 1 to 23 (odd) and Nos 2 to 24 (even) are designated as a group with Nos 24 to 30 (even) King Street. A rainwater head is dated 1868.
