Description
Arundel Cathedral of Our Lady & St Philip Howard was designed by architect J A Hansom between 1868 and 1869 and constructed from 1870 to 1873. The cathedral features ashlar walls and vaults, topped with a pitched slate roof. Its architectural style is a picturesque Gothic composition, incorporating details from the later 13th century. Surrounding the cathedral on the north and west sides is a stylobate, which is interspersed with ashlar piers that have square bases, octagonal tops, and pyramidal caps adorned with foliate finials. The cathedral is part of a group with No 2 Parsons Hill.
