Description

This is an early 18th-century building on the west side of High Street. It is rendered in stucco and has a pitched tile roof with projecting eaves, hidden behind a rendered covering. A catslide roof runs behind the main slope. The building is two storeys high with attics, featuring two ranges of double-hung sash windows with glazing bars, mostly dating to the late 18th century. An exception is the window on the first floor facing north, which is original to the early 18th century. A projecting shop window with glazing bars was added in the late 18th century, positioned to the north of the main entrance.

The doorway is reached by four steps of ashlar stone and is topped by a dentilled pediment supported by consoles. The frieze of the pediment is decorated with a Chinoiserie basketwork motif. The doorway has a six-panelled, partly-glazed door. There is also a planked door and a single window visible in the basement. Numbers 51 to 67 (the odd numbers) are grouped together visually.
