Description

This is an 18th-century town house located on the west side of High Street. The building is constructed of red brick with rubbed brick voussoirs, and has a hipped tile roof. The chimneys were rebuilt in the mid-19th century using red brick. The house is three storeys high and features an eaves cornice with closely-spaced wooden consoles. There are five ranges of double-hung sash windows with glazing bars. The doorway is characterised by unfluted Roman Doric columns, a dentilled pediment, and a semi-circular fanlight, and it leads to a six-panelled door. Three ashlar steps lead up to the door. Iron railings, featuring two urn finials and four thicker posts with Doric capitals, are located to the south and north of the doorway. The building forms a group with numbers 51 to 67 (odd).
