Description
The Ancillary Building at Rustington Convalescent Home is a staff quarters block built in 1897 by F Wheeler in a neo-Caroline style. It is constructed of brown brick with red dressings and features a wooden eaves cornice. The building has a parallel ridge slate roof with a central gable pediment on the south side, which includes a thermal window above a slight central projection. An octagonal ogee-domed cupola is located in the central roof valley. The structure is two storeys high and consists of seven bays, with a central one-bay projection that is wider and has coupled windows in a single opening. The windows are sashes with glazing bars in the upper section, featuring slight segment heads on the first floor, and are adorned with rubbed brick arches and prominent rubbed brick keystones on the ground floor. To the left, there is a two-storey, one-bay extension with a parapetted roof topped by globes. The building displays irregular fenestration and has a brick chimney at the rear, which features an upper stone moulded cornice decoration above blank brick arched panels.
