Description

Dating to the late 18th century or early 19th century, 8 and 10 South Terrace are two houses of three storeys, plus an attic and basement (only number 8 has an area). Each house has two windows and one dormer. Originally, the ground floor was constructed with grey headers, while the upper floors were red brick with grey headers; numbers 9 and 10 have since been painted. The building features a modillion cornice and a parapet. The original glazing bars are now missing. A three-window canted bay is present on the ground floor. A blind window is situated between numbers 9 and 10 on the ground floor, recessed within a round-headed recess. A dormer with a canted bay is situated above number 10. Later hooded balconies have been added to the first floor, partially glazed. The doorways are rounded headed, incorporating semi-circular fanlights: number 10’s fanlight is traceried, while number 9’s fanlight features radiating glazing. Number 10 has a six-panel moulded door. Numbers 3 to 20 South Terrace and the east garden wall of number 3 form a group.
