Description
Manora and Valhalla are two early 19th century houses located on the north side of High Street, originally called Russell Place. They are not quite identical but each consists of two parts: an outer wing that is three storeys high with one window, and an inner wing that is set back and has two storeys with one window and two windows, respectively. Both houses feature a cornice and parapet above each section. The outer wings have three-light curved bay windows on all floors, and there is an iron balcony with a hood on the first floor. The glazing bars are intact except for the ground and first floors of the outer wing of Manora. Valhalla has a small castellated porch at the angle of its two wings, which includes a pointed fanlight. Manora has a castellated projection extending along the ground floor of its inner wing, along with a bay window and a modern porch with a shaped gable added to the south of this projection.
