Description

The headstone of James Hene, located in St Peter's churchyard, is likely from the early 18th century. It is made of ashlar stone and features a slab with a moulded edge and a shaped top. The central inscription panel is bow-fronted and has worn lettering. This panel is surrounded by a scrolled border that includes an urn at the top, along with an outer border decorated with relief-carved flowers, foliage, and cherubs. This is a notable example of an early 18th-century headstone.
