Description

The Old Woking War Memorial is located in the churchyard of the Church of St Peter in Old Woking village. It features a Cornish granite wheel cross adorned with Celtic-style tracery, including rosette motifs. The cross is mounted on a tapered column that rests on a rectangular plinth, which is further elevated by a three-stepped base.

On the east face of the plinth, there is an inscription that reads: "TO THE GLORY OF GOD AND IN PROUD AND LOVING MEMORY OF THE MEN FROM THIS PARISH WHO GAVE THEIR LIVES FOR THEIR COUNTRY IN THE GREAT WAR 1914-1919." The names of the fallen are inscribed on a tablet located in the church porch. Additionally, the base of the memorial has the inscription: "1939-1945."
