Description
Nuthurst is a farmhouse, now a house, dating from the mid to late 18th century. It is constructed of Flemish bond brick with tile hanging on the rear. The building features gabled old plain tile roofs and brick stacks, including symmetrical end stacks at the front and lateral stacks at the rear service wings. The plan is double-depth, and the house has two storeys with a symmetrical two-window range.
The mid-18th century six-panelled door is set in a revealed moulded wood architrave and features a bracketed flat hood. There are flat header brick arches over 18th century three-light casements with wrought-iron fittings and leaded lights on the ground floor, along with similar 20th century casements on the first floor. Additional 18th and 20th century casements are present on the sides and rear, and there is a mid-18th century plank door to a service room on the right, as well as a blocked service door at the rear. A lean-to porch with a 20th century panelled door is located to the left.
Inside, the house features mid to late 18th century plank and panelled doors and chamfered beams on the ground and first floors of the service wing at the rear right, which may have been a former men's room.
