Description
Holdfast Cottage is an early 17th century house located on Holdfast Lane in Grayswood. It is two storeys high with an attic and consists of four bays. The cottage features a high-pitched, half-hipped tiled roof, which has a compound ridge stack made of old bricks with a cornice in several planes. There are two modern gabled dormers on the roof. The timber framing of the cottage is concealed by fishscale tile hanging on the first floor, while the ground floor is constructed of red brick with some blue headers. The windows are small leaded casements. A central pent porch, dating from around 1900, has wood balustrading. Inside, there is much exposed timber, including jowled posts and long braces. The cottage has modern rear extensions.
