Description
Clammer Hill House is a double-span house, with a front range dating to the late 17th century and a rear range slightly earlier, featuring two northern bays that are even older. The front of the house has two storeys and five bays, with a hipped tiled roof and a deep moulded eaves cornice. The window openings have been altered, now containing early 19th-century sash windows with differing patterns of glazing bars. The house is built of red brick, incorporating a diaper pattern of blue headers, with some window infill made of a different brick. Traces of original rubbed brick arches remain. A central, modern pent roof porch has been added. There are two distinct builds visible, with a chimney indicating the junction between them.
A modern link connects Clammer Hill House to the former coachhouse, Clammer Hill Old Barn. The lower part of the barn is constructed of large malmstone rubble, while the upper part is timber framing, now mostly concealed by modern brick and timber cladding. The barn has varied windows, mostly 19th-century casements, and carriage doors at the front on the left, along with a loading door above.
