Description
Lythe Hill Hotel is a farmhouse that has been converted into a hotel. It dates back to the 15th century, with additions from the 16th century. The building features a timber frame with whitewashed brick and render infill, and tile hanging on one end. It has plain tile roofs, with a half-hipped roof over the right range and a diagonal stack in the re-entrant angle of its irregular L-shaped plan. There is an additional stack on the left-hand return front. The hotel is two storeys high, built on a brick base. The right-hand range, which is of 15th-century Wealden type, has jettied first-floor bays at either end and consists of four bays with irregular diamond-pattern casement windows. There is a panel and part-glazed door to the left and a plank door left of centre. To the left, there is a projecting gable front wing from the 16th century, which is timber-framed with decorative framing. This wing has a jettied first floor on two sides, featuring a moulded bressumer and dragon beams. It includes two 3-light leaded casements in the gable front, one on each floor. Inside, the timber frame is visible, and there is a deep brick fireplace. There are also 20th-century additions to the rear.
