Description
Home Farm Cottages, along with stables to the left and additional buildings to the east, date from the 18th century. They are constructed of sandstone rubble with blue and red brick quoins and dressings, topped with a hipped plain tiled roof. The buildings form the north range of the farm courtyard, with the cottages on the right and the stables on the left.
The cottages are two storeys high and feature diagonal brick dentil eaves. There are three ridge stacks on the right and a square end stack with a front stack to the right. The cottage windows are casement style, with leaded glass in the centre and right sections. The first floor has nine windows, five of which are leaded, while the ground floor has eight windows, five of which are leaded and set under cambered heads. There are three doors: a part-glazed door to the left under a pentice hood on braces, a part-glazed door in the centre under a similar hood, and another door to the extreme right in a recess porch at the re-entrant angle with the east range of buildings.
The stables feature two loft doors on the first floor and three doors below. The ground floor has six two-light windows under cambered heads, some of which are partly blocked and fitted with shutters.
The east range is a single storey, timber framed and weatherboarded, also with a plain tiled roof.
