Description
The Granary at Home Farm is a 17th-century timber-framed structure. It features an open ground floor supported by 25 braced posts, with tile hanging above that sweeps out to the base. The roof is half-hipped and covered with plain tiles, and the building has a square plan with one storey and an attic used for cart storage.
On the north side, there are diamond-pane leaded casement windows, consisting of three small, two-light windows above four larger, two-light casements. The south side has a similar layout with three louvred openings above four, two-light windows. A ladder leads to the first floor on the north side, positioned left of centre, with another ladder above.
Inside, the granary contains boarded and partitioned storage areas and bins, supported by queen post trusses. The north wall has brick infill that is exposed on the interior.
This granary is considered one of the most significant farm buildings in southern England and serves as a prominent feature in the square farmyard.
