Description

The building at 3 and 5 Petworth Road comprises a 17th century or earlier timber-framed back range, alongside later additions. The original part has a steeply pitched tiled roof and a tile-hung first floor, featuring long runs of small, leaded casement windows. The ground floor is entirely glazed. Flanking the original range are projecting gabled wings of a later date. Number 3 has a mid-19th century red brick wing, distinguished by carved and scalloped bargeboards. The first floor has a sash window with glazing bars, and an imitation early 19th century shop front below. The projecting wings of Number 5 are tile hung above and brick below, with similar windows and shop fronts.
