Description

This is a long, timber-framed building, likely dating from the 17th century, projecting from the east cross wing of Half Moon House. The main gable faces the road, and the building is three storeys high with an attic. It has a high-pitched tiled roof, with tile hanging on the gable, and bright red mathematical tiles at the base. The windows are sash windows with glazing bars, set within moulded wooden architraves. A modern shop front, designed in an early 19th-century style, features a small tiled pentice running around the right corner of the building. The right return is tile-hung above a malmstone basement plinth with red brick dressings; the ground level at the front descends to a basement on either side. Visible timber framing is exposed above brick infill on the east return. A 17th-century chimney stack is located to the east, with later stacks elsewhere.
