Description

This is a 17th-century cottage, extended to the right and rear and now divided into separate dwellings. The left-hand section is timber-framed and built on a whitewashed brick base, with brick infill between the timbers above, forming a thin frame of square panels. A whitewashed rubble stone and brick return wall is visible on the left, with brick extensions to the right. The roof is tiled, with tile hanging on the gable end to the left. The cottage is one storey and attic under a gabled dormer, with two storeys to the right. On the ground floor of the left-hand section are two leaded casement windows, with a buttress supporting the wall. There are two windows visible on the left-hand return front, one on each floor. A staircase window is located to the right of the old range, adjoining a door under a pentice hood, within the re-entrant angle of the two ranges.
