Description
The outer curtain wall and gatehouse at Farnham Castle date from the late 12th century to early 13th century. The wall is made of chalk and is enclosed by a ditch and bank, with a large ditch still visible to the north and east. The curtain wall features square mural towers that project outward from the north face, which originally had arrow slits in the upper part. The gatehouse is located in the southwest part of the curtain wall and is likely from the 13th century, though it has been rendered and includes 19th-century additions. It consists of two rectangular towers with semi-octagonal projections on either side.
