Description

The Ewhurst War Memorial is a Grade II listed structure that was unveiled on 7 November 1920. It is made of Cornish granite and features a rough hewn Celtic cross set upon a tapered plinth and stepped base. An inverted sword of sacrifice is intricately carved into the cross.

On the western face of the plinth, the inscription reads: "IN MEMORY OF / THE MEN OF EWHURST / WHO FELL IN THE GREAT WAR / 1914-1918," followed by the beginning of a list of the 51 men who lost their lives. Names are also inscribed on the northern and southern faces, with the eastern face concluding the list with the words: "THEIR NAME LIVETH FOR EVERMORE."
