Description
The Cottage, which adjoins a chapel to the west, is a pair of cottages that have been converted into one dwelling. It is dated 1732, with a 19th-century addition and 20th-century alterations and additions. The building is constructed from galleted Bargate rubblestone, brought to course, with red brick dressings. The later addition features brick in Flemish bond with some vitrified headers and rubble. The roofs are covered with plain tiles.
The structure is two storeys high and consists of two bays, with a lower bay added to the right. The main range has a plinth, brick quoins, a platband, and surrounds to the openings. On the ground floor, there are four 20th-century two-light, small-pane casements. The two central windows are located above former paired doorways, which are marked with bricks incised "TS 1732." The former end stacks have been removed. The added bay has a rubble plinth and features a 20th-century door to the left of a two-light, segmental-arched window. At the rear, there is an outshut that has been partially raised, along with a 20th-century addition and dormer that are not of interest. The right return shows that the ground floor of the added bay is made of rubble.
