Description

Tollsworth Manor House is a house that dates back to the 15th century, with extensions from the 17th and 19th centuries. It features a timber frame with Merstham stone cladding on the east side from the 17th century, and stone and brick with galleted mortar on a flint plinth to the south from the 18th century. The roofs are plain tiled, with a half hip over the south range, an end stack to the left, a ridge stack to the left of center, and end stacks at the rear. Originally, it was a three-bay hall house with a three-bay cross wing to the south and east, later extended with a two-bay addition to the northwest and a single-storey extension at the rear. The main front faces at right angles to the street and is two storeys high, featuring mixed casement windows, some of which are leaded. There are three windows across the first floor, and the ground floor windows are set under cambered hoods. The entrance includes a six-panel door, with the top four panels glazed, located under a flat porch hood supported by brackets.

Inside, the passage has stone flooring and walling, and extensive timber framing is visible throughout the house. There is a two-storey hall at the rear with a brick floor and a crown post truss, along with a deep stepped brick fireplace. The interior also features two 17th-century doors with gate hinges and a 17th-century staircase.
