Description

Fishers Farm House is a house that dates back to the 15th century, with extensions added in the 17th century and a front section from the late 18th century. It has a timber framed core and is clad in brick, featuring red brick at the rear and yellow brick at the front. The roof is hipped with plain tiles, including a central ridge stack at the front and large diagonal stacks with moulded tops at the rear.

The main front has two rear wings that are positioned at right angles and includes a lobby entrance. The house is two storeys tall, with brickwork above the ground floor and at the base of the parapet, and has quoined angles. The front has five bays with glazing bar sash windows set under gauged camber heads. There is a blocked window on a red brick surround with cill brackets at the centre of the first floor. The central entrance features a six-panelled door with a traceried fanlight, framed by Doric half columns that support an open pediment. To the right, there is a single-storey weatherboard addition from the 19th century.

Inside, the left wing reveals extensive framing with substantial scantling, and there are deep brick fireplaces with wooden lintels. A fine Jacobean style staircase is present, featuring turned balusters, scroll spiked newel posts, and intricate carving on the underside of the staircase arch.
