Description
A house dating from the 15th century, with additions from the 19th century, situated on Tilburstow Hill Road, Godstone. The house is timber-framed and sits on a rendered plinth; the infill is whitewashed brick. It has a plain tiled hipped roof with gablets at the ends, and a large front stack located to the left of the centre. Originally a lobby entry hall house, it now has two storeys and five framed bays. The first floor has two horizontal sliding sash windows on the left and two casement windows on the right. The ground floor also has two horizontal sliding sash windows on the left, two casement windows on the right, and one window within a 19th-century square bay with a hipped roof. A six-panelled door is set within a gabled brick porch featuring diagonal boarding in the gable. The rear of the house has Horsham slabs on the lower part of the roof, and a 19th-century wing extends to the right of the centre, constructed in whitewashed brick. The interior retains extensive timber framing, particularly on the ceilings of the ground floor rooms. A deep brick fireplace with a wooden lintel survives, as does a roof containing a crown-post with half posts at the ends.
