Description

Castle Grove House is a house, dated 1643 on a plaque, with 18th-century and late 19th-century alterations and extensions to the rear and left side. It is constructed of whitewashed brick with deep eaves and plain tiled roofs. The house has a T-shaped plan, with two further parallel wings to the left. It stands on a plinth with plat and brick dentil bands over the ground floor, and has end stacks to the front ridge, topped with brick dentils. The symmetrical street elevation features three 16-pane glazing bar sash windows on the first floor, each with cills supported by brackets. A blocked window with a recessed lozenge panel is located to the left of centre on the first floor, containing a blank shield and the date 1643. The ground floor windows have cambered heads under label hood mouldings. A panelled, pointed arched door is situated to the left of centre. The right-hand return front features an angle bay window that rises through two storeys, with casement fenestration under a diagonal brick eaves course.
