Description
Winches Cottage is a late 16th and 17th century cottage extended and restored in the 20th century. It originally had a timber-framed core, later clad in 17th century brick to the ends and then refaced in brown brick with applied timber on the first floor. The roof is covered in plain tiles. The cottage has an L-shaped plan, with a gabled wing projecting to the left. It is two storeys high, featuring a small ridge stack to the left of centre and a larger, offset stack to the right end. On the first floor are three leaded two-light windows with wood-framed casements; below them are three windows. A 20th-century part-glazed door sits centrally, with windows either side, all sheltered by a flat roof supported by wrought-iron brackets. Garage doors are located at the right end. A plat band runs over the ground floor of the gable end wing to the left.
