Description

Rams House is a 17th-century cottage with a gable end facing the road, extended in the late 18th or early 19th century to the north. The cottage has a two-unit plan and is timber-framed on a plinth, with some areas plastered and rendered. It has a side purlin roof covered in tiles, originally thatched, and a ridge stack made of gault brick. The cottage is one storey high with attics. A horizontal sliding sash window is located in the gable end, serving both the attic and ground floor. A wing was added in the late 18th or early 19th century, constructed of colourwashed brick and covered with a plain tiled roof. This wing is two storeys high and features a hung sash window recessed within the eaves. A similar window at ground floor has a segmental arch above it. An early 19th-century doorcase with fluted pilasters, corner bosses, and a flat hood leads to a six-panelled door. A fire insurance plaque is affixed to the east wall of the wing.
